ABOUT THE PEOPLE IN YOUR BUSHES

We make outside less disappointing.

TOUCH GRASS™ is a fictional landscape company built around a very real belief: your yard should be somewhere you actually want to spend time.

Revolutionary stuff, apparently.

Professionally designed residential landscape with healthy lawn, planting, and stone patio
THE EXTREMELY SHORT VERSION

Good landscaping should feel obvious when it’s done.

The path should go where you naturally walk. The patio should be where people actually want to sit. The plants should belong in the conditions where they were planted.

The lawn should not require a weekly emotional support meeting.

We design outdoor spaces around how a property works, how people live, and what can reasonably survive there without becoming a second job.

OUR COMPLETELY FABRICATED ORIGIN STORY

It started with one ugly yard.

One afternoon, somebody looked out a window, saw three struggling shrubs, an aggressively rectangular patch of mulch, and a patio chair sinking into the lawn.

They whispered: “Brother, what is happening out there?”

And thus, TOUCH GRASS™ was born.

None of this happened. This is a website template. Please do not cite us in a documentary.

STRONGLY HELD YARD OPINIONS

Things we believe.

Some companies call these values. We had already committed to the bit.

01

Every plant needs a job.

Shade, privacy, structure, habitat, seasonal color, texture, erosion control. Decorative freeloaders will be questioned.

02

Design for Tuesday.

Not just the annual barbecue. Outdoor spaces should work on ordinary afternoons when nobody is coming over.

03

Maintenance is part of design.

If keeping it alive requires six apps, a horticulture certificate, and divine intervention, perhaps we reconsider.

04

Drainage is not optional.

Water should go somewhere intentionally. “Toward the foundation” is not one of the approved destinations.

OUR DESIGN PHILOSOPHY IN ONE SENTENCE

Less random stuff. More things that make sense.

WHAT WE NOTICE

You see a yard. We see seventeen problems.

Not necessarily bad problems. Just things that affect how the property works, feels, drains, grows, and gets maintained.

We have ruined casual walks through neighborhoods for ourselves permanently.

Light

Where the sun actually lands, not where the plant tag wishes it landed.

Water

Drainage, irrigation, runoff, and mysterious swamp situations.

Movement

How people naturally travel between the house, lawn, patio, and garden.

Views

What should be emphasized, screened, framed, or never seen again.

Maintenance

How much work you realistically want to do after buying all of this.

The mulch

We promised ourselves we would stop mentioning it. We failed.

YARD MYTH DEPARTMENT

A few things we need to clear up.

“More plants will fix it.” Not always.

Sometimes the problem is layout, drainage, scale, circulation, or twelve plants already fighting for the same square foot.

“Low maintenance means no maintenance.” Absolutely not.

It means less work. The plants have not yet agreed to maintain themselves.

“We can figure the patio out later.” You can.

But planning the major pieces together usually prevents expensive future sentences beginning with “well, now we have to...”

“Nobody notices the yard.” Your neighbor does.

We are not saying they have a spreadsheet. We are also not saying they don’t.

THAT’S ENOUGH ABOUT US
