CLOUD OPERATIONS

The cloud still needs management.

Moving something offsite does not automatically organize, secure, license, back up, maintain, or explain it.

01 CONFIGURE

Set up users, permissions, groups, licensing, authentication, policies, and services around how the business actually operates.

02 PROTECT

Apply identity controls, MFA, access policies, secure sharing practices, and monitoring instead of assuming "cloud" means "somebody else handles it."

03 BACK UP

Maintain independent recovery options for important cloud data rather than treating synchronization and backup as interchangeable words.

04 REVIEW

Audit accounts, licenses, storage, access, stale users, unused services, and whatever subscription somebody started with a company card in 2022.

CLOUD CLEANUP / CLD-220

Apparently we were paying for all of that.

NEXT ACTION

Back it up before you need it.

Because the worst possible time to discover the backup job stopped running six months ago is immediately after somebody asks whether the data can be restored.

RECOVERY RULE If nobody has tested the restore, hope is doing an uncomfortable amount of work.
